Monday June 25th-Gr. 8 & 9 Graduations; Early Dismissal

Our Grade 8 and Grade 9 Graduation ceremonies will be taking place on Monday, June 25th.  The Gr. 9 Ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. in our cafetorium and is expected to run from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.  The Gr. 8 ceremony will begin at 5:00 p.m. at Sir John A. Macdonald CI (at 2300 Pharmacy Avenue).  Due to preparations for the two ceremonies, all St. Andrew’s JHS students will be dismissed from school at 11:50 a.m. on the 25th.  For those students who need to remain at school, we will be running a supervised study hall in the library from 11:50 a.m. to the end of the school day at 3:11 p.m.  If staying, please remember to bring a lunch/drinks as the cafeteria is not available for purchasing food during the final week of school.

Gr. 9 students are to arrive back at St. Andrew’s no later than 1:30 p.m. and they are to assemble in the gymnasium.

Gr. 8 students are to arrive at Sir John A. Macdonald Collegiate by 4:15 p.m. and assemble in the cafeteria next to the auditorium where the ceremony will be held. Following the ceremony, students attending the reception are to proceed to Fantasy Farm, 50 Pottery Road.  Only those students who have already paid may attend the reception.  Dinner will be served at approximately 7/7:15 p.m. with a dance to follow.

Parents/guardians are to be at Fantasy Farm by 10:30 p.m. at the latest to pick up their child/children. Do NOT send Uber or taxis, as we will not allow them to leave without a parent present.

Message to Parents RE: Community Concerns

We want to inform our parents/guardians that we continue to remind students to place garbage in the trash bins when off school property at lunch. We value our community and respect our environment. A few of our local business owners recently let us know that students have used their facilities and outdoor tables, without purchasing products. Some of our students have left their garbage in and around these establishments. Local businesses play a critical role in our area and we want to continue to emphasize the importance of respecting our community.

We thank our parents/guardians for respecting the community’s wishes and encourage parents/guardians to have a conversation about this at home with their child(ren).
