The St. Andrew’s Talent Show will be on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at 1:30 pm for students, and at 6 pm for parents and the community. This show is a fundraiser for Cancer Research. Please come out and support the very talented students performing in this year’s talent show! It will be an excellent show and is certainly for a very important cause.

The play’s the thing… Romeo and Winifred, that is!

Tonight at 7, the St. Andrew’s cast performs the fourth and final show of “Romeo and Winifred.” Students from SAJH and our feeder schools have enjoyed two performances thus far, with the third happening as I write!

Tickets are available at the door for $5. We hope you’ll join us in the cafetorium tonight for the show.

We are also collecting food donations for our drive supporting the North York Harvest Food Bank. Non-perishable food items can be donated at the door.

Outstanding Music news!

One month ago, the St. Andrew’s Intermediate Concert Band and the Jazz Ensemble were selected to represent the Kiwanis Music Festival of Toronto at the provincial level. Each group submitted a recording of their two pieces to the Ontario Music Festival Association to complete against other Ontario school concert bands and jazz ensembles.

On Friday, May 29th the results were announced on the Ontario Music Festivals Association Facebook page and the news is good for St. Andrew’s.

For the Bands Class 1 – William C. Dawson Trophy category, the St. Andrew’s Intermediate Concert Band placed second of nine bands and won a scholarship for their performance. The first place band was a school from Ottawa.

For the Band Class 5 – Elementary School Jazz Band category, the St. Andrew’s Jazz Ensemble placed first and won a scholarship for their exemplary performance. Second place was awarded to a School for the Arts from London, Ontario.

Congratulations to all of the students who contributed to the success of our school and to Mr. Corbett and Ms. Kimm for their outstanding leadership in our Music program as we celebrate together this week.
