Community Outreach

St. Andrew’s JHS has been very active in acknowledging and recognizing the needs of others both within and outside of our community.   Over the past month staff and students have been bringing in donations for our “Operation Christmas Child” initiative.  Ms. Fair and her helpers take the donations and package them in such a way that a shoe box sized package is prepared for someone who would normally not receive anything at this time of year.  Thanks to our efforts, we have 75 boxes filled.

Starting today, and during the month of December, the students of St. Andrew’s JHS are continuing to work very hard to recognize the December character trait and value of “Kindness and Caring” towards others.  With this in mind, we would like to invite everyone to participate in our Food Drive.  Parents and students are asked to bring into the school non-perishable food items.   We will be accepting items right up to December 20th.  Please send all food items with your child/ren.  Items will be collected in your child’s homeroom class, or in the office, and then organized by some of our students ready for pick-up.

The following are examples of non-perishable food items that are needed:

Canned vegetables,  Canned Fruit,  Dry cereal, Dried pasta or spaghetti,  Baby food in jars,  Canned fish,  Canned soups

North York Harvest Food Bank will be assisting us to distribute the items that we collect for our Food Drive. They provide families in our surrounding community the necessities they need.  Many receiving the donated items will be young families with young children.

We hope that you will help us to help others by supporting St. Andrew’s and the North York Harvest Food Bank.
