Forum: Empowering Newcomer Youth
The Canadian Centre for Victims of Torture (CCVT) will be hosting an interactive forum on empowering youth to enhance their creativity and develop leadership skills through motivation and peer-to-peer learning.
– The target audience is NOT limited to youth that have been victims of torture, however, it is preferred that any newcomer youth/refugees/immigrant youth attend the event.
– All youth attending will receive TTC tickets/tokens, volunteer hours (if they need them) and lunch.
– The forum is comprised of a motivational speech by a Guest Speaker (who is actually a former client of CCVT); 3 workshops on different topics including Identity, Barriers to Success, and What makes a Leader (each youth attends 1); showcase of a peer resource that CCVT youth have created, and a few talks by the youth themselves related to the theme of the event to the rest of the youth participants.
