Garbage at Bayview Plaza and community behaviour

We have been notified by several businesses at the Bayview/York Mills plaza that there has been an increase in the amount of garbage on the grounds by students during the lunch hour this year compared to last year.

A community member notified us today that some students have been banging on doors or ringing doorbells at lunch and running away, and they indicated a desire to contact the local police division.

We addressed these issues and expectations at the beginning of the year and at assemblies and will be making reminders over the PA system. Please assist us by reinforcing with your children appropriate behaviour in the community at lunch and after school. Thank you for your support.

Meet the Teacher BBQ Night postponed

Please be reminded that the Meet the Teacher BBQ night scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday September 24th has been cancelled based on the directive from the TDSB. This information was sent home last Friday in our newsletter and in a separate letter yesterday. It is our hope that we may be able to reschedule this opportunity for parents and guardians to meet with teachers. All families will be informed in writing and via the BLOG regarding any updates.

International Languages Elementary and African Heritage classes

In an increasingly globalized world, it is important to set our students on the path to being active global citizens. The TDSB takes great pride in providing International Languages and African Heritage programs to all students from K to Grade 8. No background knowledge is necessary and we encourage students to explore all languages.

Term 1 language classes are offered from September 21 – December 17, 2015. Term 2 language classes are offered from January 4 – June 19, 2016. Please note additional language classes may be offered, provided there is a minimum of 23 students registered.

Details are available in a booklet (available from Guidance) or online at International Languages Elementary and African Heritage programs.

Registration runs from Monday, Sept. 14 to Sunday, Sept. 20 – students may continue to register after classes have started, provided there is space available.
