Some Upcoming Dates from your Parent Council

Please note the following upcoming dates.

1.  On Tuesday, December 9, 2014 we will hold a special meeting of the Parent Council to discuss and approve the funding of expenditures on the teachers’ wishlist.  Please join us at 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the school library.

2.  On Wednesday, January 7, 2015 IT expert Paul Davis will speak to parents about Social Networking Safety.  Paul has presented to more than 180,000 students, 20,000 parents and 1750 Principals as well as the OPP and the Department of National Defence.  Our children are spending increasing amounts of time socializing online and these activities may carry significant risks of harm.  Paul received an excellent reception from the students last year when he spoke to them on this topic.  Please join us at 7:00 p.m. in the school library.  The presentation will last 90 minutes followed by a Q & A session.

York Mills CI is hosting a Concussion information evening on Tuesday December 2nd from 6-8 p.m. The guest speaker is Dr. Charles Tator, one of the most respected experts on concussions in our country. Please see the attached flyer for further information.

Gifted Information Evening November 27, 2014

The Toronto chapter of the  Association for Bright Children of Ontario is sponsoring an evening with Anne Seymour,  the TDSB’s Coordinating Superintendent Special Education, to speak about special education, priorities and directions for gifted students.  For those interested in attending, this event will take place on Thursday, November 27th at 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. at Northern District library, 40 Orchard View Boulevard, room 224.
