Grade 8 Ottawa trip – Information evening

All grade 8 students were given a notice to take home yesterday advertising our Family Information evening regarding our Ottawa trip for grade 8 students. We look forward to seeing you next week on Tuesday, April 1st from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in our Cafeteria.

Our Tour company Edutravel will be present along with our school Administrators to outline the trip itinerary, timelines and answer questions. The trip is June 3-5 and therefore timelines for returning all paperwork and payments will be rather short.

We look forward to seeing you next Tuesday.

Queen’s University: May enrichment programs

We have just been notified that there are a few days left to register for the Enrichment Studies Unit offered at Queen’s University. These multi-day programs in May are open to intermediate and secondary students across Ontario. Dates vary according to selection.

“Designed for gifted, above average and highly motivated students, these programs offer students a chance to be academically challenged, while also providing a rich university life experience. Students get deeply engaged in a course led by graduate and professional students during the day, and participate in safe, inclusive and fun social activities in the evenings, all while living like a university student in dorms and dining halls.

“We still have a significant number of courses with space available during some of our spring programs, drawn from a variety of academic disciplines.”

For more information, please see the Queen’sU 2014 Enrichment Pgms flyer or check online at esu.queensu.ca

GTA Flood warnings

The Conservation Authority / Environment Canada have sent a bulletin: forecasted rainfall amounts mixed with melting snow will result in increased water in rivers and streams, and potential flooding.

The combination of slippery and unstable banks, unsafe ice and extremely cold water temperature will create very hazardous conditions close to any river, stream or other water bodies.

Please stay away from rivers and streams and exercise caution around all bodies of water. Please alert any children under your care of these dangers and supervise their activities.
