Attached are the minutes from our September 11, 2013 Parent Council meeting.  Our next meeting will be on October 21, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the library.


Curriculum Night and other news

A reminder of our Curriculum Night tomorrow (Thurs. Sept. 19th) during the following times;  Please bring the various course outlines that have been handed out to our students.

Grade 7:  6:00- 7:15 pm

Grade 8:  6:45-8 pm

Grade 9:  7:00-8 PM

Leadership Camp (Grade 7 and 8) – Forms and payments are due by this Friday. The grade 7 trip is on Wed. October 2nd and the grade 8 trip is on Thurs. October 3rd. Both trips are from 8:30 -3:30 pm and includes a BBQ lunch at Green Acres camp in Markham.

50th Anniversary – Our committee is hard at work preparing for this historic event on Saturday November 30th. We are seeking some assistance from our families and students as follows;

– If you have any items we can display (old gym or St. Andrew’s team uniforms, Yearbooks, photos, etc.) for the day please forward them to the office or Ms. Greenspoon.

– Donations: If you are able to donate cases of water, peanut-free cookies or wish to make a monetary donation to help with these expenses please contact our Main Office.

– Anniversary items for sale: If you are connected to a company that might be willing to donate or subsidize the cost of the following items or services please contact the office;  pens, golf shirts, sweatshirts/windbreakers. Thank you for your support.

Welcome Back Coffee

On behalf of all our families we would like to apologize over the confusion and conflict over our Welcome back Coffee information. It was an unintended oversight to schedule the Welcome back Coffee during Rosh Hashanah.

We would like to provide an opportunity for any parents who were not able to attend the social last Friday, September 6th to visit with us tomorrow morning, September 13th in the front foyer between 9:15-10 a.m. Coffee and treats will be provided. We look forward to seeing you.

International Languages and African Heritage classes

The TDSB is offering International Languages Elementary (non-credit) and African Heritage classes, beginning in mid-September. Classes are offered for over 50 languages.

If interested, please pick up a full booklet in the Guidance office. Registration begins at the class locations on Friday, September 13th.

On behalf of our entire staff and Parent Council we would like to welcome everyone back from their summer vacation. Next week is the start of many busy weeks of activity. Some of the events are summarized below.  Please note that our first full newsletter will be published next Monday.
We are seeking the assistance of our Parent Community in developing a separate St. Andrew’s school website. If you can assist in this initiative please contact our Main Office.

Upcoming Events – September 9 – 13

  • Entire week: Tryouts begin for Boys and Girls Slo-Pitch, Coed Cross Country and Boys Touch Football
  • Monday September 9: Early dismissal at 1:30 p.m. for staff professional development
  • Wednesday September 11:  7 – 9 p.m.  Parent Council first meeting with guest speaker Jennifer Kolari (Parenting Expert)
  • Thursday September 12: 
    • Grade 7 Frosh Frolic (morning)
    •  Terry Fox Run (afternoon – entire school)
